A ceremony honoring Contra Costa County students selected to attend the California Summer School for the Arts was held on May 31, 2006 in the Board of Supervisors chambers in Martinez.

County Administrator John Cullen was among those who attended the ceremony, arranged by the Arts and Culture Commission of Contra Costa County.  Representatives of supervisors Mark DeSaulnier and Mary Piepho also were present along with relatives and friends of the students.

The students were among 520 selected out of 1,100 applicants to attend the school, held in Valencia, between July 8 and August 5.  The program is now in its 20^th year.
